Easter celebration

We began our Easter waking up early to sing for the 7 AM Easter Mass. I always dread having to wake up so early and drag the girls out of bed to attend that service, but I always end up LOVING it! There's something wonderful about getting up before the sun and going to the empty tomb to hear the good news that CHRIST IS RISEN proclaimed! I can relate to the women in the Gospels so much because of the experience.

We had our traditional community breakfast with Grandma before heading back home to prepare for an Easter day celebration there. The girls were thrilled that the Easter bunny found our place alright and delivered the goods. Patrick and Laura D. came for the day as did my grandmother and her little dog, Maggie. We tried our best to prepare a brunch "Aunt Winnie-style" with all sorts of delectable goodies. Ham, crepes with strawberry sauce, yogurt and granola, various fruits and Laura D.'s scones and hashbrown quiche made for a delightful meal. Patrick and Laura D. also brought orange juice and champagne so we could enjoy some lovely mimosas.

Later in the day, we celebrated Elise's birthday (she turned 2 the day before Easter) with a cake Grandma provided. Elise was quite excited about her VERY chocolate cake (this picture doesn't show her true reaction since she was a little camera shy)

We had a few eggs hunts. Kayla was a huge fan and did a GREAT job. She found eggs quickly and left nearly none for her little sister to find in the process. Elise, however, didn't mind a bit. She toddled around picking up an egg every so often and happily eating the contents. She was totally in the moment. Here are some pictures of the girls in their Easter finery. These are the candid shots.

Later on we enjoyed an ice cream sandwich cake and some pear/apple pie that Laura D. baked. It was a day filled with fun and yummy treats.

And last but not least of the pictures are the family shots.
