Vacation Bible School 2015

This year we have two little monkeys who were old enough to go to VBS, but the cost is a little prohibitive per child (especially when you've got multiples).  But just as the first day of VBS this year taught my girls, "God will generously provide for all your needs."  2 Corinthians 9:8

I'm not saying that VBS is a need, but it was something that we thought and prayed about and really wanted to find a way to send the girls.  And God opened doors where we needed them to be opened to make that possible.

The theme was Mt. Everest this year, which our little hikers especially loved since we hit the trails all the time as a family.  They went through scary caves and learned to trust in God when they are afraid and reach out to Him.  They learned to praise God through song and dance.  They learned to forgive when others make errors in judgement and cause us pain.

Each day there was a story from the Bible to focus on as well as a short Bible verse to memorize.  Perhaps my favorite from the week was "He comforts us in our troubles, so we can comfort others."  2 Corinthians 1:4

Some friends of ours were helping out as volunteers which was great because the girls were just a tiny bit nervous (mostly Elise) about me dropping them off and being gone.  It was definitely comforting to them to see familiar smiling faces.

The girls loved all the fun crafts, stories, songs, activities, friends, and dress-up days that really pulled the group together as a team, learning about the Lord together.

Ava really wanted to be in the picture too even though "crazy hair" to her was putting only one hair clip in with her pig tails.  WILD, I know.

They also had crazy sock day which the girls loved because it meant they could all wear their Disney socks.  Yahoo!!

The final day, they had a "performance" of the songs they learned plus a sweet slideshow with pictures from the week of the kids.  Kayla and Elise really enjoyed their week, and we have been continuing to work on the Bible verses and stories they learned to solidify it all even more for them.  Ava is already excited for next year when maybe she'll be able to go too.

As my girls would say:
God has the power to provide.  Hold On!!
