St. Lucy's Feast 2015

Happy Feast of St. Lucy (otherwise known as St. Lucia Day-- around here it's also Sophie's birthday!)

In case you aren't familiar with her, you can read more about this interesting Saint here.  Last year, we read through most of the American Girl books with Kayla and the Kirsten book has some references to St. Lucy and St. Lucia Day.  So we adopted a tradition mentioned in the book of the {oldest} --we just take turns--girl in the family dressing up as St. Lucy and bringing out rolls for everyone to eat.

This year, it was Elise's turn to be St. Lucy and she loved it.  We didn't wake up early enough today to do the tradition before Mass, so we did it when we arrived home.  As the cinnamon rolls cooked in the oven, Elise kept watch almost constantly (or at least it felt like she did).  "Are the rolls done?" she'd ask over and over again.  And eventually they were, and she got to dress up in her St. Lucy costume and bring out the sweet-smelling rolls to everyone.

Happy Feast Day and Happy Gaudete Sunday!

It certainly is one filled with lots of joy around here as we celebrate the feast of St. Lucy, the birth of Sophie Rose, and the joy of Christmas approaching.
