We arrived at our new {rental} home on Friday around midday. We camped out with what we had until the movers arrived on Sunday morning. They finished right around lunchtime and I was able to get the entire kitchen unpacked during the afternoon/early evening before dinner (with the exception of some junk that has gotten piled up on the kitchen counters during the moving process). Chris got all TV/computer, bunk beds, and crib put together. Then we had our first official home-cooked dinner of meatloaf, rice, and mixed veggies in our new place. Exhale a huge sigh of relief and exhaustion. I was more than ready to fall into bed last night. Whew.
So far, the transition has been a good one. We love that we have neighbors and that everyone is so friendly and seem to know each other and hang out in front yards and chat while the kids play. We love that we have a nice park that is within very close walking distance from us (we walked there both Friday and Saturday night for some family fun before the movers arrived). And we love that our money goes a lot further with housing in Colorado. Our new house is a whopping 5 bedrooms with a nice basement space and it feels HUGE! We are loving having some extra space for the girls to move around and some extra space to grow. The yard isn't enormous, but it IS compared to the apartments/condos/townhome patios that we have been used to for almost the entirety of our marriage.
(here are the girls shouting "new house, new house!" excitedly!)
And before I get back to the unpacking, here is a big dump of pictures of the new place. No judging the messes in some of the rooms (the kitchen!!). It's a work in progress right now....
(master bed and bath- plus some of my goofballs)

(dining room- from upstairs and later with table set up)
(empty {BIG!} bedroom, then later with the bunk bed set up along one wall)
(girls' bathroom upstairs)
(kitchen and dinette)
(living room)
("office"/5th room on main floor. Kayla was able to do her school work there this morning)
(yard)
When we arrived Friday there was still a little bit of snow from the snowstorm they received here in Colorado the week before we arrived. The girls were in heaven playing in the snow {barefoot!!!}. Eventually they put their shoes on, but they continued to play in the snow until it melted to nothing the following day.
(basement- when you come down the stairs, it's like two rooms connected by a little hallway)
and there you have it. There are other bedrooms, but I didn't get pictures of everything...you get the general idea though.

What a wonderful place! So glad to see you guys are already enjoying your new home. :)

ReplyDeleteMay God bless you in this beautiful house! I have traveled through Denver before, and it is very nice looking, lots of mountains & evergreen trees! Is it a big change for the girls from sunny, warm temps to cold snow?
ReplyDeleteNot too big since we've lived in colder climates before as well. It has been a little chilly this week, but that hasn't stopped the girls from riding bikes and being outside as often as I'll let them out! :) So far, we are all loving it.
Delete!!! Thanks, David!
