We are HOMEOWNERS!
It has been a long "short sale" process. We put the offer in on this house in May and finally closed on October 25. We had hoped to be settled there before the arrival of Ava, but I am sure that God's timing is perfect.
That is not to say that everything has just been a breeze. It is not easy to move 45-50 minutes away with a 3 year old, 1 1/2 year old, and newborn. We didn't have too many helpers either, but the ones we had were invaluable.
My grandmother helped with packing the days leading up to the move and she helped some more on moving day. She also cooked us meals in the days leading up to moving so we could pack our kitchen things. And she made a fabulous meal at the end of moving day which was a huge relief to me. Best grandma ever.
My mother came and pretty much single-handedly cleaned out our old place. She scrubbed that oven so well it looked brand-spanking new. They should have paid US for that. ;) She also came and helped me unpack some things and organize at the new place.
In addition we had the help of some great guys-Miles and Bill. They are friends of ours from Steubenville, and they have been a part of our life as a couple from the beginning. Both Bill and Miles were studying abroad in Austria, too, the semester Chris and I were there, met, and started dating. Thanks, guys, for all the heavy lifting and truck loading/unloading!
We don't have much unpacked still (Sloooooooooow process), but Chris was able to get some painting done in the two days in between us closing on the house and moving. It started as BRIGHT yellow and ended as a beautiful shade of green. We are really happy with it--our first home project!
