In 2002, I was blessed to see a living saint, Pope John Paul II at World Youth Day in Toronto. The world couldn't help but know when he passed away not too many years later that he was a Saint interceding on our behalf now in heaven. He is and probably will always be one of the most influential Saints in my life. I SAW him. I stood within yards of him as he passed by in the popemobile. I heard him speak. I was touched by this man's holiness like so many others, and it will remain with me forever.
At the beginning of this year, I wrote about a friend's passing and how his life reflected a quote of John Paul II's to me. "One must arrange one's life, so that everything praises God."
This year we celebrated St. John Paul the Great's feast with some friends
And we had a pierogi dinner, of course.
I have yet to meet a St. John Paul II quote that does not inspire me, and inspire me deeply.
I am so thankful for the opportunity to live in this age where we were blessed with a Saint like Pope John Paul II walking among us. JP II, we love you!
