May 2023 re-cap

May was full of fun and end of the school year craziness.

Sophie had a field trip!

messing with Nana because she had just picked a ton of our dandelions.

This little guy is quite the runner.  He did a running club this spring and they were required to run the 50m dash and 100m dash and he got first or second in his heat in both in all the meets.  They also got to choose to run either the 400m or the 800m.  Most opted for the shorter of the two but he ran the half mile in two of the meets.  At one of them, there were only about 20 kids who wanted to run it so they combined K-5 graders and he got 3rd place! He's got a lot of heart and a competitive little spirit.

These guys were cleaning the windows and their truck broke so the fire department came to rescue them one day at school.

There was a tornado warning (we had to shelter in place at school for about an hour) one day and my neighborhood got the hail storm piece of that storm.  I was blessed not to have the damage that my neighbors behind me had.  yikes.  lots of prayers

Pandemic game with some fun teacher friends

last day of school some of the teachers went out for a little relaxation and fun

My kids are definitely little mini-me's.  on the left is their water cups left partially full everywhere. on the right are mine.

On Memorial Day a couple of my teacher friends secretly organized a party to help me with my yard.  My friend, Saige, asked if I wanted to visit a nursery with her which I did so we went and I picked out some things I had wanted to try to plant.  I replaced Ava and Elise's First Communion roses (Ava's is yellow and Elise's is orange) and found some fun other bits of color to add to the yard.  Saige insisted on paying for it which was a very sweet surprise.  Little did I know that was only part of the surprise.

We arrived back at my house and there was an army of teacher friends weeding my yard, pruning bushes, digging holes for new plants, and mowing the lawn.  I had mentioned to Mr. Lenhart that I needed to get a branch cut at one point so we could set up the new trampoline I had bought the kids as a housewarming bit of fun for the new house.  He cut the branch.

and later a group of them even stayed and helped me put together the trampoline.  I had misplaced the directions but we got it together anyhow!

Doesn't the yard look lovely?

I was FLOORED by the generosity and kindness of my coworkers.

Ava's yellow rose bloomed brightly just days later

all set up and ready for the kiddos to come back from Chris' to try it out!

rainbows are signs of God's promise and I was so reminded of that this month

We took a little time as teachers after the end of the school year to party as well.  Cornhole, burgers, and pool time!

The kids drew Simba on my board

Finally the kids are here to enjoy our hard work!

I have the best coworkers.  The end of the school year was a blast because of our great students and our incredible staff.  love you guys!

Grammy and Granddad's Visit: Part 3- Garden of the Gods

Another day we headed to Garden of the Gods to hike and look around the museum there.  We ended up hiking around a bit further than we've originally anticipated and the sun came out about 5 minutes into our hike and got us all sweating, but it was a lovely hike with more fun memories and little chats.

These are the "Siamese Twins" rock formations.

Kayla found these little holes that she discovered she could fit through, and then all her sisters wanted to try, of course.

I made the travelers from Cincinnati take a little group photo.

Kissing Camels rock formation (this isn't a great angle to see the humps on both camels)

The museum had all sorts of interesting little exhibits and facts.  In this corner we learned more about bison, so we took a picture of the firstborn sons in 3 generations.  #littlebison

And we ended with lunch in the back of the car in the parking lot.  Mmmm!  The girls were so happy that I brought a special treat-- lunch meat sandwiches and fruit roll ups (and apples).

Thanks for coming out, Mom and Dad (and Kevin and Andrew)!! We love you guys.
