August re-cap 2019

August was another busy month filled with family and fun!

Early in August, Chris' parents and his two youngest brothers visited from Ohio.

We tried our hand at miniature golf for the first time ever with the kids.

Group shop of everyone but me and Kolbe...

...because he was here sulking about being tired and hot.

Awwwww!
Chris' younger brother, Nick, and their mom
It was a lovely visit.  They took Kayla to the air and space museum one day and there were plenty more days of staying home and playing games and chatting.  I'm so blessed to have been welcomed so completely into this incredible, faith-filled, kind family.

Chris planned a hike one morning for us all up near Dinosaur Ridge.

Lovely views, a good, solid hike, and the best company.

Yeah, those are cliffs behind them.  But they really wanted these pictures so I smiled bravely and told them to be super careful and snapped them as fast as was humanly possible.

Those Colorado clouds slay me. God is incredible.

Happy Feast of the Assumption of Mary
We celebrated with some food in honor of some of her titles.  The cheese is "Tower of Ivory" and the lily sandwiches are "Mother, most pure"

The rest is healthy yumminess for Our Lady of Good Health

Flowers and decorations for Our Lady

And a special blueberry cheesecake

Chris took Ava on her first every backpacking trip.  He may eventually get on here and blog about it.

While they backpacked, we went on an adventure with Uncle Nick
He took us to a neat hiking spot we've never been to

We found the remains of an old bus

When we arrived back at the car, I noticed that our already slow-leaking tire was completely flat.  Nick was a true gentleman and took care of it all while I took the kiddos down to the nearby creek to keep them busy.

They later told me they were glad for the flat because it meant getting to go in the creek and explore.
Adventure car.
Thank God for his providence and for Nick being the best brother we could ever ask for.

We celebrated St. Rose's feast day with (half off!) roses and a special tray of fancy finger food.  The kids loved it.  I guess we'll have to celebrate more feast like this.

At a local evening summer concert with the littlest ones while Chris took the older two camping one weekend.  The picture shows neither the depth of beauty of my kiddos nor the beauty of the sunset that evening.

The girls wanted to bring St. Therese roses (since she said she'd send a shower of roses from heaven and they WERE half-off).  We love our friends in heaven who pray and intercede for us so wonderfully.

Sweet Sophie started dance class!

It's a combo jazz, tap, and ballet class, and she loves it!

It was a good month filled with happy memories to keep forever in our hearts and minds.

Our 10th Anniversary

Lucky enough to have been married to this guy for 10 years.

A few days before we went to a concert by a southern rock band- Marcus King Band.  They were great and we got the front and center spot right up by the stage.  Their opening band was a fun crew, and after their set the guitarist gave me a setlist, which we gave to the adoring fan beside us.  I was also fortunate enough to snag a guitar pick that Marcus King tossed out.  But mostly, the music was really fun and of course my date was great.

On our actual anniversary, Kayla insisted on making dinner for us.  With a little help and guidance from me she made a seafood lasagna (she interviewed us both and found that we liked seafood).  The dinner rolls and salad, she made all herself.

She asked each of us some questions, and through them, found out that one of my favorite bouquets that I ever received from Chris when we were dating was one made up of red roses and irises.  She wanted to buy some.  When we went to the store, I was sure there would be no irises as they aren't in season and I've never seen them at our grocery store.  But there was a package of them, and she was thrilled.  I was too.  :)

Kayla planned for me to make homemade mac and cheese that the kids love so they could eat earlier and then she'd be able to help serve our meal.  Nick joined us.
The girls had all made the sweetest cards and pictures for us.  It was really just the sweetest thing ever.  And in just a short while, we'll be heading on a 10th Anniversary trip, just the two of us for nearly a week.  Rest, warmth, and relaxation--here, we come!

Thank you, Chris, for being such an amazing guy.
Thank you, Kayla, for your thoughtfulness and hard work making our anniversary dinner so very special.
Thank you, Elise and Ava for the lovely pictures.
Thank you, Sophie and Kolbe for all your sweet kisses and hugs.

We are blessed.  10 years, 5 kids- blessed.
