Kolbe got really into building with blocks this month.
Also, snacks. He asks for food ALL the time. but it's really cute how he says "dackers"

Apparently I took a lot of selfies this month.
I'd say it's because I'm so ridiculously vain, but I look haggard and have rings under my eyes in most of them....haha. I take a lot of selfies especially with the kiddos (or our goddaugther there on the left) when Chris is gone for work to send him so he can be part of some of the crazy somehow.

We found a baby bunny that had fallen into one of our window wells and rescued it.
Because I was scoring tests online for a lot of May and was more distracted and less able to watch little ones out front who wanted to ride bikes and scooters, we brought a few inside for Kolbe and Sophie who had a blast going around our "track".

Our "adopted" godson, Erik, made his First Holy Communion at the beginning of the month. Kolbe just happened to accidentally match Erik's mom, my dear friend, Megan. And he wanted to give her all the hugs and was so mad when we had to depart and he had to come back home with us.

There was a lovely gathering to celebrate the big occasion at our friends' house. The picture on the right is the only one I snapped of the First Communicant before we had to rush off to get to the girls' recital later that day.

More state food studies.
Nevada= Indian fry bread
New Hampshire= Maple Syrup with pancakes (and bacon and sausage).
I planned a fun date for Chris and I between his two business trips in May. First we went to The Cheesecake Factory and had a drink and cheesecake. Then we headed to the Mall to just walk around, people watch, and talk/laugh about nothing like we used to back when we were dating. The last stop was Max Taps, a beer place Chris has been wanting to check out for some time now.
Tried some lovely beers/ciders and had a fun time laughing over anything and nothing.
And taking stupid selfies using BOTH our phones. ha.
Because Chris was out of town several times, I had to take all the kids for ballet and tap practices. As a result, we found a fun new-to-us park near the dance studio for the kids who weren't dancing.

That climbing structure was pretty intense, but they enjoying the challenge.
Other park fun at different parks on family walk nights.
We found a fun project to make and send to the grandmas and great grandmas for Mother's Day.

So cute.
Kolbe got into my only expensive make-up product and made a huge mess all over the master bathroom one day while I was scoring tests online.
This boy is too much fun. I'm fairly impressed with how close he got to putting the headphones on correctly.
Kayla was so proud of herself for planting a seed in a cup that eventually bloomed into a cosmo in May.
Some of our friends from Southern California came to Denver and we had them over for dinner one evening. The truck was having some issues so the beer-drinking guys had a look.
The kids rode bikes and played
And eventually they performed "Cuckoo" from The Sound of Music for us.
Our Magnificat Moms group had it's final meeting of the year. These two ladies are dear friends and were our co-leaders this year. Thank you for all your hard work making this year a great one filled with joy and growth. Motherhood is tough, but having good support is so vital.
A nice hike in on of our favorite areas one evening.
Magnet dolls. These two were playing so nicely together and asked for a picture, so I obliged.
Chris had been able to work from home a lot more. Some days it's a wonderful thing. Others I think he wonders if he'll even accomplish anything because our kids (and me!) like to visit him bother him. This picture was too cute though of Kolbe hanging out with Chris while he worked one day.
A local park had an Alice in Wonderland ballet one evening performed by the Youth Ballet. Kolbe and Sophie were less interested in the ballet and more excited about the funny pet someone brought and the water feature fountains.

My moms group hosted a date night at the end of the month. One of our priests, Father James, gave a wonderful presentation about food and wine and how our everyday meals relate to the Eucharist. Afterwards, he gave us a wine tasting lesson which was fascinating.

Holding our friends' baby for awhile.
Chris is already really good at tasting different things in wines and beers and is able to pull out so many flavors, but for the rest of us less skilled folk, it was quite a lesson. We ALL enjoyed the appetizers and wine though. Father James picked out some really delicious ones.
Cheers!
This was the breakfast the girls brought me one morning when I was working. So sweet.
And last but not least, we hosted a few of Chris' out of town co-workers for dinner one evening. He mentioned that it might be nice to ask them over for dinner since they were here in Denver on business, and I figured there was no way they'd say yes. I thought they'd much rather just go out to eat together at a restaurant, but lo and behold, they accepted his invitation.
So we made some yummy appetizers, a good meal, and even some strawberries with cream cheese filling inside for dessert. Kayla insisted on making menu cards and she and Elise made placemats which the guests thought was simply adorable. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when Chris first mentioned the idea, but it turned out to be a very fun evening and it was nice to meet a few of the people he works with too.
And that's a wrap for May. What a crazy, busy month it was with me working 20-35 hours a week and Chris gone for nearly half of it on business. And this post didn't even cover Pentecost, Chris' brother Scott's visit, the girls' recital, or Mother's Day. Fun was had by all though the month sped by so very very quickly.
