Elise's One Year Stats

Yesterday, I took Elise in to the doctor's office for her one year appointment. The summary of her appointment is basically that she's a genius. Haha. What a mom-thing-to-say, right? Basically he was just impressed with her waking abilities is what that comment really boiled down to. At one, Elise is practically running after her sister and walks backwards. I need to catch that on video because it's very funny. It generally happens when you walk toward her to change her diaper or when Kayla makes a move to grab the toy she is holding.

Anyway, as far as her actual stats go, Elise is really fairly average. She's right near 50% in most categories. She is now 29.5 inches tall and weighs 20 lbs. 7 oz. We were going to move her into a different car seat soon, but she's not actually as big as we thought she was, so maybe we'll leave her where she is for awhile longer.

In the past two weeks, she has doubled the amount of teeth in her mouth. We were beginning to think those four front teeth were all she was going to get. ;P But then she popped out four more. It's hard to spot because she will never let you get a good look in her mouth and when you try, she generally makes you wish you hadn't. Anyway, when the nurse gave Elise her one year shots, she started crying and in those few seconds before she calmed down I spotted the two newest. That would explain the crankiness and random screaming fests for no apparent reason we've been seeing from our happy-go-lucky second child.

Other than that, Elise is just a happy little toddler: running around after her sister, laughing, babbling and singing, and still putting everything in sight in her mouth. She stomps her feet and claps her hands and sways to the music. One of our favorite things that she does is dive at us. She will run toward you and just jump at you when she gets close with a HUGE, cheeseball grin on her face. Boy, do I love being a parent.
