Hiking in Mt. Falcon Park

Saturday was a gorgeous, sunny day, so we headed out as early as we could get ourselves and our hiking gear together and went on a little family hike in Falcon Park.  We took the Turkey Trot Trail for the first 1.7 miles or so and caught some lovely views of the green hills, snowy mountains in the distance, another view of the Denver skyline, and lots more wildflowers along the way.

Elise and Ava held hands and were hiking buddies for a good portion of the hike.  It was totally the sweetest thing ever.

After nearly two miles the Turkey Trot Trail met up with the Castle Trail which we took back down to the parking lot for a total of about 4 miles which is about as far as we like to go with Ava being our youngest hiker at 3.75 years.  Sophie still packs on Daddy's back and for the most part loves it (see picture!).  The trail would be a great one for training for other longer hikes as well as it climbed about 1000 on the Turkey Trot Trail portion before we met up with the Castle Trail to descend back down.  Lovely views and great exercise for the whole family; can't beat it for a Saturday!

    1. Yes, it was such a beautiful hike.... Chris is the researcher who finds all the gems, so I can't take credit for any of that aspect. :)
