Chris' parents came to visit with his two youngest brothers, Andrew and Kevin. The girls loved having their grandparents and a few uncles here for a visit. The girls taught Grammy their special version of "T-ball".
Grammy made special chocolate covered banana treats with the girls one evening. The girls love anything in the kitchen that is sweet especially when they get to help prepare it.
One morning we took a "field trip" to a local museum that featured period buildings from the 1860's and the 1890's. There were animals in the farm buildings, a schoolhouse and a blacksmith shop. The school master was there that day so we got a nice history lesson.
and he led us all in "My Country Tis of Thee" (America).
Grammy had the touch and got Kolbe to fall asleep one afternoon. We rewarded her with a delicious Kahlua and cream.
Grammy brought all sorts of games and fun which the girls enjoyed. She also brought a CD of audio Tall Tales which were a bit hit.
Kayla taught the boys how to play Quirkle, one of her favorites since my parents taught her to play.
They were here over Grandparents Day, and the girls had previously worked hard to make some special cards and pictures for them (and their other grandparents and great grandmas far away).
Grammy and Granddad enjoyed the cards AND the cuddles.
Chris was able to take his dad out to a few local breweries while he was here.
We introduced them to the wonders of a favorite local donut shop.
Chris and I combined forces and made a cheesecake that is a combination of two cheesecakes that we each like to make on occasion. The combined cheesecake involved an oreo crust layer, Chris' famous cheesecake, a chocolate ganache, a salted caramel sauce layer, and homemade whipped cream with a touch of Kahlua plus toffee pieces as garnish. It was as amazing as it sounds.
Overall the trip was just a really nice time to hang out together, make fun memories, and show Chris' parents and brothers a taste of Colorado living. We had some great laughs, some wonderful conversations, and a lot of fun together. We are so blessed to have parents who are so loving, kind, generous, and incredible examples of the Faith. Thanks for coming out and spoiling us and thank you for allowing us to spoil you a bit too. We can't wait for the next visit.
