The day after we got the tree, it was decorating time. It ended up being a bit taller than we had originally planned on, but we have super high ceilings so we knew it would fit even if we were off by a couple feet. Chris had to climb out on our window ledge to put the lights and the angel on.

Kolbe was entranced by the tree. He took his bottle over after Chris put the lights on and just stared at it. For a rather long time. I guess he understands the beauty of stillness and waiting in wonder for Jesus in a way that few of us do.
The girls were all thrilled to decorate the tree. They all have their favorite ornaments, and they each have a decent collection since their granddad carves each of them a wooden ornament each year. They love getting to put ornaments up, but they especially love that some of them have their names on them and belong to them.
That evening we pulled out the bin filled with Christmas books and read our first one of the season. Sophie enjoyed playing with the Little People nativity set.
The stockings got hung.
Christmas tree by night

The following day Chris put up the outside lights and nativity set. He made a stand so that we could put the star for the nativity set up in our front middle window (he's so handy!)
And you may notice all the bed pieces in that picture above on the right. We also bought bunk beds from some friends and he got that all moved, put together, and ready for the kids to sleep in that night. We moved Sophie out of the crib and into a big girl bed and Kolbe into the crib (he's been in the pack n play). Everyone is thrilled.
You can see the star in the window there (during the day)
And there it all is by night.
Peace on earth, goodwill toward men.
