Ava potty training update

Ava is still going strong with potty training. I'm not really enjoying sitting with my big belly on a small stool in the bathroom reading books while she sits and tries over and over during the day, but once it all truly clicks and she really gets going, it will have all been worth it.

The big news that has been most exciting to me with her potty training is that she kept her diaper dry the past two days at nap time. In addition, each of the days this weekend, we attended birthday parties at various parks in the area, and she kept her diaper dry through those as well. As I noted in the last update, this is a true sign that she is really ready for this because she can hold her potty for several hours at a time.

Also in the last two days, she has had no accidents at all with #2 and only 1 accident on each of the days with #1. Yesterday, she had her one accident in the morning after we arrived home from church and she and her sisters were playing outside. After that, she held her potty through a birthday party and nap time, woke up and used the toilet for both potty and poop for the remainder of the day. Hurray! She's getting there!

Now that she has begun the process, we are in the stage where a lot of the work is up to me. I have to remember to ask her often if she has to go potty and set a timer to have her try every 15-20 minutes or so until she starts to truly make a habit of paying attention to what her own body is telling her throughout the day. But she is definitely doing her part of holding her potty and usually going during one of the times when we sit and try. A few times a day, she is the one who initiates and tells me that she has to go, too, so it won't be long before she fully takes over the reigns and we have another potty trained little one in the house.

Usually I'm not a fan of the fact that we have 3 toilets (because I have to clean them!), but it's been useful during the potty training stage to be able to just send the other two to a different toilet if Ava is occupying one for potty training.

Well, it's time to go have Ava give it another try....
