I took only a few pictures on our last hike. This is one.
Most of the rest from our hike up Mt. Galbraith are from Chris' phone. The landscape in Golden was a lot more...golden than some of the hikes we do that are a tad closer to home and have been much greener. It was also a very overcast day and most of our hikes thus far have been on fairly clear or mostly sunny days. It made the hike a lot more enjoyable without the sun beating down, but the pictures have a bit less color because it was so cloudy. The views were lovely nonetheless and we all got some nice exercise and lots of fresh air.
(some artists painting the landscape on the way up)
The map Chris found had the hike being about 4 miles, but reading some other sources later, it seem
s the loop is more like 4.9 miles and when you add in that we had to park a ways up the road, we did over 5 miles, half of it going up (we gained about 1000 ft.), which is quite the feat for little Ava. Generally we stick with mileage right around 3-4 miles to make sure she can do it. But she was a rockstar (until she had a couple little falls at the end and lost her momentum), but Chris was awesome and carried her (plus Sophie on his back) for a while until she calmed back down and could finish the hike on her own.

These last three pictures are the other three that I took on this hike. The ones above show Chris being super dad.
It was a tiring hike for me at 35 weeks with half of it being a pretty steady climb upwards, plus the girls were on and off moody (probably because we got a later start than usual and they were all a little more tired by the end of the hike), but we did it and we had a lot of fun seeing the beautiful sights of Colorado from all along the Mt. Galbraith loop trail.
